GOALS

 

  • promote an understanding about gifted and talented students and their educational needs among educators, parents, and community.
  • communicate information about the latest issues and trends in the field of education of the gifted and talented.
  • advocate policies that promote supportive legislation and funding for the gifted and talented at the state and local level.
  • disseminate information on education of the gifted and talented to all interested parties.
  • expand the existing knowledge base about gifted and talented students and their needs.
Objectives
The objectives of ITAG/SAGE focus on the delivery of information about gifted and talented children and their needs to interested and influential parties. As an advocacy group and a professional group, we strive to better the opportunities for this group of individuals. To this end, we work together with you to:


  • foster communication among organizations and groups with an interest in the education of the gifted and talented.
  • address concerns relative to program development for the gifted and talented.
  • address the needs of special populations within the gifted and talented population.
  • develop professional teacher education and teacher certification models.
  • disseminate current and quality information on the education of the gifted and talented.
  • support research opportunities in the field of the gifted and talented.
  • identify and honor leadership in the field of the gifted and talented.
  • develop an advocacy plan with other interested groups in Idaho to:
  • ensure appropriate direction for the future of education of the gifted and talented.
  • actively influence state legislation and funding for the education of the gifted and talented.
